Social portrait of the Kalugian bureaucrat of the last quarter of the ХVIII century

Abstract

Social portrait of Kalugian civil servants of the last quarter of the ХVIII century - the time when the provincial reform was carried out, the development and success of which depended on a large extent on bureaucrat personality is described in the article. Authors select and trace the life and career of the individual Kalugian bureaucrats of the vicegerency period, whose activity defined the proceeded changes in the life of the city and the region. Introducing the reader with the details of their origin, education, career and life, comparing their destinies, authors try to imagine most explicitly the specific feature of the environment where they live, and offices where they work. The article contains comparative analysis of the social structure of civil servants, findings of their origin, social and property rank, nationality, education.
