Content of the category of new: from eleatic to the beginning of xx century

Abstract

Evolution of general philosophical meaning of the concept of new that existed during different periods of philosophy development is considered in the article. Metaphysical conception of the relationship between the new and the old in Eleatic philosophy, the works of Aristotles, Heraclites, and ideas of Parmenides are considered in detail. Special attention the author pays to the presentation of the views of Gassendi - one of the eminent philosophers and scientists of XVII century, and also of the views of Mill - well-known philosopher of XIX century, one of the fathers of positive philosophy. The author as well presents philosophical positions of J. Lewis, Charles Renouvier, E;mile Boutroux. Views of the French philosopher-irrationalist Henri Bergson are described in reasonable detail, who was one of the most popular philosophers among the bourgeois intellectuals at the beginning of XX century.
