Chancellor of the Russian Empire M. I. Vorontsov (Information for the Biography)

Abstract

The article is dedicated to Mikhail Illarionovich Vorontsov - count, the chamberlain, Chancellor of the Russian Empire in 1758-1765. History of Vorontsov's family, the family of noblemen, who left noticeable trace in the Russian history, is describe in detail. The author of the article characterizes individuality of count Vorontsov, paying special attention to his activity as a patron of the arts. Count's scope of interests was not limited only by his professional occupation but comprised literature, poetry, arts and science, that, in the author's opinion, allows to consider him as one of the most educated statesman not only in Russia but in Europe in XVIII century.
