Abstract

The article presents an analysis of an idea of democratic world government popular among the British Labour in the 1910–20s. Parliamentary democracy being put into action by the League of Nations could be an instrument of democratization of the international relations. As the League declined, the Labour started to regard democracy as a criterion of membership in future international organizations.
