Abstract
This article deals with the main aspects of the national policy of the prominent soviet leader in the seventies-eighties of the 20th century Juri Andropov during his work at the posts of the Chairman of the USSR State Security Committee (KGB) and General Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee and the Chairman of the USSR Supreme Soviet Presidium. The attention is focused on the objective and subjective difficulties of state management in the multinational country.
