Role of the Rome treaty in European integration

Abstract

The history of foundation of the European Economic Community is considered in the article, beginning with the Rome Treaty, signed more than 50 years ago. The reasons due to which European constitution has not yet been approved are analyzed. The author describes in detail the history of development of relations between the European Union and the Soviet Union, and later with Russia.
