Abstract

This paper deals with migration process trends in China and Russia. The specificities of the migration situation in China and Russia are analysed, both objective and subjective reasons for moving into cities, with Beijing and Saint-Petersburg as examples, are detected. Special emphasis is given to internal migration in China and external migration in Russia. The role of public authorities in regulating migration processes is discussed.
