Abstract

The process of socioeconomic reforms being implemented in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam since 1986 is described in this article. The characteristics of the main stages of reforms and the institutional framework of ongoing transformations are provided. The emphasis is given to the results of reforms which are reflected in the main macroeconomic indicators. The results of the course of reforms, including those in the main spheres and sectors of Vietnamese economy, are demonstrated. Attention is also paid to the unresolved problems which Vietnam is facing at the current stage of its historical development.
